WHS Friday Message

From Principal Allyson Mizoguchi

March 6, 2026
Yesterday’s “This Is Our House” assemblies with jamele adams were memorable and energizing! Weaving together student voices and performances, jamele united the audience with his inspiring words about “LIT” (love, inclusion, and trust). We celebrated the perspectives and talents of our students and learned how to address harm and strengthen connections with each other. Special thanks to our amazing student participants – musicians, poets, visual artists, and writers – whose contributions were truly phenomenal. We will continue our “LIT” work when jamele returns this spring to collaborate with interested students.

Scheduling for 26-27: Update

Today the window closed for teacher course recommendations for next year. Next Friday, students and caregivers will be able to log into PowerSchool to confirm or adjust teacher recommendations and make elective course requests. Next week, you will receive an email with all relevant links and information. For now, I suggest that families begin to explore the Program of Studies on our website and review elective course options. Additionally, students and caregivers who are having trouble logging into PowerSchool should resolve this as soon as possible by submitting a technology support ticket linked here.

Spring MCAS Dates for 9th & 10th Graders

Now that we have entered the month of March, I wanted to put on your radar screens the following MCAS testing dates. (The test is no longer a graduation requirement, but it is required testing and can also qualify students for some scholarships.) Please take care to avoid absences on testing dates – thank you!

9th graders:
Biology: June 2 & 3

10th graders:
ELA: March 24 & 25
Math: May 19 & 20

Congratulations & Updates!

  • Good luck to the WHS Science Team, who will compete in the State Science Olympiad tomorrow at Wentworth College. They earned 8th and 12th place in the Invitational Science Olympiad over February vacation, the highest honors our team has earned in over 20 years!

  • Please mark your calendars for next week’s multi-level concerts in the Field House! The annual String Jamboree (3/9), Band Fest (3/10), and Wayland Sings (3/11) events showcase the talents of hundreds of our elementary, middle school, and high school musicians.

  • Congratulations to the cast and crew of To Parents and Other Neighbors for advancing to the Semi Final Round of the METG Drama Festival! Lexi Greeley, Jules Eggers, and Jake Sherman earned “Excellence in Acting” honors, and the team of John Brevard, Caleb Chislett, Jules Eggers, Marley Eggers, Wyeth Heilman, Ariana Price, and Cordia Wang earned “Excellence in Scenic Design” honors. Upcoming performances of this original play are found on the WSHTE website.

Enjoy the weekend!
